Artist: Laura Shechter

Title: Still Life with Grapes

Dimension: 10.5” x 10.8”

Media of each work: Graphite on Paper

Why you chose it:  It gives a great example of everything you can draw with still life.

What about the reference image you can integrate:  I like how Laura used many different objects without crowding the picture.

Some interesting factoid about the artist(s).  Laura Shechter considers herself a “second generation contemporary realist”.

Artist: Laraine Armenti

Title: Table top with Apricots

Dimension: 7 x 9.5 in

Media of each work: graphite on paper

Why you chose it:  It caught my eye with all the objects on the table

What about the reference image you can integrate:  I like how Laraine was rough with the pencil marks, which made it more interesting.

Some interesting factoid about the artist(s).  In 2007, Laraine transitioned to painting full time after 18 years of self-employment in graphic design.

Artist: RJ Clark

Title: Stacked Plates

Dimension: 18” x 26”

Media of each work: Graphite on Paper

Why you chose it:  The shadow of the plates caught my eye, as well as the artist’s pencil strokes.

What about the reference image you can integrate:  I like how RJ made the drawing look almost like a photograph.

Some interesting factoid about the artist(s).  RJ Clark has been painting and drawing for over 30 years, and resides in Virginia Beach.
